REC Serbia and Montenegro Projects
Project: “Sava Commission – Secretariat,
Legal and Stakeholder Support - Component 3”

Stakeholder Involvement Strategy in the Implementation of Framework Agreement of Sava River Basin

The project is implemented by The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe, funded by the US government in cooperation with Booz, Allen and Hamilton (BAH). One of the components of the project is aimed at assisting the Sava Commission in developing and implementing a strategy to reach key stakeholder groups throughout the Sava River Basin.

The strategy includes methodology of identification of stakeholders, recommendations for establishing and maintaining a dialogue with stakeholders and dissemination of information related to the developments under the Framework Agreement; as well as identification of institutional measures that the Sava Commission could implement to maintain a vibrant stakeholder engagement program (e.g.: open meetings, press conferences, opinion polls, stakeholder involvement at sub-regional level meetings, etc.).

It was foreseen that the project activities would also provide assistance to the Commission in implementing the strategy, such as supporting the organization of public meetings and workshops, preparing and distributing relevant materials for circulation by the Commission, and facilitating the convening of public advisory committees.
